Coal Fly Ash and Polyacrylamide Influence Transport and Redistribution of Soil Nitrogen in a Sandy Sloping Land

نویسندگان

چکیده

Sandy soils are prone to nutrient losses, and consequently do not have as much agricultural productivity other soils. In this study, coal fly ash (CFA) anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) granules were used a sandy soil amendment. The two additives incorporated the layer (depth of 0.2 m, slope gradient 10°) at three CFA dosages PAM dosages. Urea was applied uniformly onto low-nitrogen (N) surface prior simulated rainfall experiment (rainfall intensity 1.5 mm/min). results showed that compared with no addition PAM, and/or caused some increases in cumulative NO3−-N NH4+-N losses runoff; when event ended, 15% alone treatment 0.01–0.02% resulted small but significant runoff-associated concentration (p < 0.05), meanwhile 10% + 0.01% nonsignificant > 0.05). After event, both treatments increased concentrations retained unamended soil. As co-application rates increased, additive effect on improving retention increased.

Distribution of trace elements in coal and coal fly ash and their recovery with mineral processing practices: A review

Today coal is among the most important energy sources. In order to meet the world's energy demands, low-calorie lignite with a high ash content is generally used in the large capacity coal-fired thermal power plants. As a result of coal firing, wastes such as fly ash, slag, and flue gas are also produced. Subsequently, toxic trace elements within coal are transferred to wastes such as slag, fl...

Opportunities and challenges in the use of coal fly ash for soil improvements--a review.

Coal fly ash (CFA), a by-product of coal combustion has been regarded as a problematic solid waste, mainly due to its potentially toxic trace elements, PTEs (e.g. Cd, Cr, Ni, Pb) and organic compounds (e.g. PCBs, PAHs) content. However, CFA is a useful source of essential plant nutrients (e.g. Ca, Mg, K, P, S, B, Fe, Cu and Zn). Uncontrolled land disposal of CFA is likely to cause undesirable c...

Influence of coal fly ash application on trace element mobility and distribution in soil, plant and leachate

Abstract: A greenhouse study was conducted to assess growth and elemental uptake by canola (Brassica napus) on acidic soils amended with four chemically different unweathered fly ashes. The ashes were incorporated into the top 10 cm of 1 m long intact soil cores at the rates of 0, 12, 36 and 108 Mg ha. The objective of this study was to characterise growth responses and distribution of B, Mo an...

The respiratory toxicity of coal fly ash

The aim of this study was to compare the relative respiratory toxicity of CFA samples obtained from three Chinese coal-burning power stations to CFA obtained from a UK coal-burning power station; both bulk and respirable PM10 samples were tested. In order to elucidate CFA toxicity, a multi-disciplinary approach was taken, thereby considering geochemical aspects of the fly ash as well as biochem...

Abundance of Radioactive Elements in Coal and Fly Ash

Coal is largely composed of organic matter, but it is the inorganic matter in coal—minerals and trace elements—that have been cited as possible causes of health, environmental, and technological problems associated with the use of coal. Some trace elements in coal are naturally radioactive. These radioactive elements include uranium (U), thorium (Th), and their numerous decay products, includin...
